about
Welcome to Coffee, Sun & Technology - My name is Xavier Casanova. I’m an entrepreneur based in Silicon Valley (California, USA). My areas of professional interest are: eCommerce, Online Marketing and Web Analytics.
A little bit about myself: I was born and raised in Europe (France), where I studied math, computer science and physics till I realized I wanted to live in a different place and work for a high-tech company. My original plan was to work for Intel in California, that’s why I came to Stanford to get my Master’s in Electrical Engineering.
Of course things didn’t work out as planned since I met my friends Stephane Kasriel and Ram Srinivasan early 1999 and started a Web acceleration company called “Fireclick”, backed by some major Silicon Valley VCs. I did manage to get my Stanford diploma in 2000 but the recession hit us pretty hard and we successfully repositioned the company as a “Web analytics” vendor, primarily developing business intelligence tools for large online retailers (Gap, RadioShack, Ann Taylor, Home Shopping Network, etc). A few ups and downs later, we were acquired in 2004 by Digital River (Nasdaq: DRIV), a Minnesota ecommerce outsourcing company leader in the Electronic Software Distribution market. I stayed there for almost two years and learned some “larger company” skills which I’m sure I will put to use some day.

In 2006, I started a new startup called Wambo (Perenety was the original name) with my friends Arnaud Tellier and Guillaume Thonier. Simply put, Wambo is the best service for privately and publicly sharing large files, such as photos and videos, with your friends and family. Under the hood, Wambo is powered by sophisticated patent-pending P2P technology, which makes the system extremely scalable and keeps our operational costs low. We received investment for Wambo early 2006 from Partech International and from Silicon Valley’s best known angel investor Ron Conway.
Since early 2008, I am now working full time on my new startup, Liveclicker. More on this later… ![]()
When I’m not working or blogging, I spend with friends and family, run marathons or mountain bike. If you’re interested in any of that or want to talk about the future of Liveclicker, drop me a note! See you later -Xavier
